Primary Job Responsibilities

The data engineer will support the risk department, leveraging big data technologies to build infrastructure, aggregate and structure data, monitor the quality of data feeds, and build out real time feeds to support machine learning model development and implementation. You will be a member of the decision science team containing both data scientists and data engineers with end to end responsibility for machine learning model development, deployment, and monitoring.


Job Requirements

Provides data support to the risk modeling, management, and infrastructure teams.  Research and develop new methodologies and techniques to improve the overall effectiveness of decision analytics and decision management.  Acts as the technical owner of projects that may require significant customization of existing analytic tools, techniques, processes or development of new ones.  Works closely with data scientists and product team, to implement models, by leveraging available tools and platforms. Perform data analysis to ensure quality and develop tracking and reporting systems to determine the effectiveness of models, rules, and other risk initiatives and programs.  Design and create systems to automate, structure, aggregate, and warehouse data to support the risk team, from modeling to vendor integration, by leveraging big data technologies as well as traditional relational databases.  Use of the Hadoop ecosystem to mine petabytes of data and build structured data marts for use by the modeling and analytics teams.  Design and automate necessary processes to maintain availability and accuracy in data systems.  You will be required to develop solutions, as well as the requirements, from the ground up.  You will own integration of multiple data sources, internal and external, into the environments we need for day to day operation.  Being passionate about data with self-motivation is the key to success in this type of role.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, MS/PHD preferred.
  • Relational database expertise:Experience with Teradata and data warehousing methodologies
  • 1+ years of experience with the Hadoop ecosystem: HDFS, Spark, Pig, Hive
  • experience in stream data, such as Kafka, Storm, etc. desired
  • Expertise in Java
  • Experience in SDLC, especially testing and deployment. Experience with Jenkins is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages (Python, etc.)
  • Knowledge around machine learning a plus
