The Durability, Damage Tolerance and Reliability Branch of NASA Langley is interested in using genetic programming to aid in the rapid development of models for mechanics of materials.

 

Genetic programming is a type of machine learning that is based on evolutionary optimization:

 computer programs are evolved so that they best perform a given task.

 

The primary goal of this internship is to help develop a genetic programming software package that suits the branch's needs.

 

Tasks will include turning research equations/code into high performance code and other data science duties.RequirementsThe project is written in C++, so experience in C/C++ is essential.

 


Requirements

Experience with python, MPI, git, and mechanics of materials is also favorable.
