Manager, Data Science - National Geographic Partners

National Geographic Partners is seeking a Manager, Data Science with a strong focus in advanced statistical methods, hands-on number crunching and marketing analysis. Develop actionable insights that create value for CRM, Membership and Digital Marketing. Navigate the marketing database and tools (SAS, Unix, etc.) and be able to query from multiple data stores and be familiar with but not limited to SQL and other web databases. As data will be coming in from multiple locations, experience in merging disparate data sets and extracting answers will be a core skill-set. Must have hands-on experience with direct to consumer predictive modeling, segmentation and contact cadence optimization and be familiar with web data, Google Analytics/ Omniture data.

 

Responsibilities

  • Create customer profiles and build predictive models and score customer records using statistical techniques (logistic regression, linear regression, decision trees, and cluster analyses) to extract actionable insights that create business value for Direct to Consumer marketing that includes: CRM, Email, Direct Mail, Membership, Social and Digital Marketing.
  • Synthesize disparate data sets and navigate the marketing database and tools (SAS, Unix, etc.) and be able to query from multiple data stores and be familiar with but not limited to SQL and other web databases, Google Analytics, recommender systems, and ad platforms (DMPs).
  • Understands the Product lines marketing goals and constraints to bring practical intuitive new ideas for testing offers, segmentations and in designing and analysis of marketing experiments; ie. Pre/Post, execute simple and stratified random sampling techniques.
  • Prepare and present presentations to senior marketing leaders in a non-technical way, have a high attention to detail in double checking data and codes for accuracy, and produce detailed documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in quantitative science with advanced statistical and business coursework is required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • At least three (3) years digital direct/database marketing in an analytical role is required.
  • Direct to Consumer, media and publishing experience preferred.
  • Proficient with relational databases, SAS, SQL is required.
  • R, Python, data visualization (Tableau, domo) is a plus.
  • Experience with Web Data, Advertising Platforms, Attribution modeling and Recommendation systems is a plus.
