Concord Advice is a 13-year old boutique FinTech advisory firm focused on helping our clients meet the personal finance needs of consumers through their consumer loan offerings. We create, manage and analyze the products, services and expertise that impact all aspects of a financial services operation, including underwriting, data analysis, technology, marketing, account servicing, and customer service delivery. We are nimble, entrepreneurial, multi-functional, collaborative and driven to help our clients serve their customers in new and innovative ways. Driven by our success and a favorable market outlook, we are making significant investments in the firm in 2018. One of the cornerstones of our investment is to expand our Data Science Team by creating several new positions including Senior Manager of Predictive Analytics to strengthen our team and bring us to the next level in analytic capability and leadership. The selected data scientist will be familiar and adept at both traditional and modern analytical techniques, working in an extremely robust data environment that tens of thousands of records each day.

Key areas of business focus include loan risk assessment and underwriting, pricing, marketing, collections and product development.

Requirements

As a core member of our Analytics Team, the ideal candidate will have worked in both traditional and cutting-edge data science techniques, including predictive analytics, machine learning and, artificial intelligence and is:

  • A subject-matter expert in data science, machine learning and statistical methods (including the underlying theory, mathematics and assumptions), with hands on development experience;
  • Capable of creating comprehensive datasets encompassing underwriting and profits, while incorporating a variety of signals and types;
  • Hungry to mine through data to develop observations and recommendations to increase profitability.
  • A developer of complex predictive models which substantially and continuously improve revenue generation and risk mitigation;
  • Skilled at identifying the potential usefulness and validity of new statistical approaches and data sources;
  • Curious and adept to explore and prototype applications of cognitive and machine learning technologies relevant to the business; and
  • Comfortable and willing to engage cross-functionally with other business users in an entrepreneurial environment to grow our business and develop solutions.

In terms of qualifications in addition to those identified above, the preferred candidate will be a self-motivated, results oriented, enthusiastic and creative thinker, and have:

  • An advanced Degree (Ph.D./MS) in Statistics or a related quantitative discipline.
  • At least 5 years of quantitative experience with large datasets, building and implementing complex predictive models, from prototyping thru production;
  • Expert knowledge of:
    • Machine learning frameworks and RESTful Microservice APIs (“R”, Apache Spark/MLlib, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn); and
  • Experience with Machine Learning and Big Data technologies such as (preferably) Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, and Spark.

Recent experience with online consumer financial products and/or consumer-facing commerce organizations is highly desirable.
