Senior Statistical Modeler

This position exists to create opportunities for innovation in the modeling/scoring functional area within the healthcare analytics market. The incumbent will be technically proficient in multiple modeling/scoring methodologies and will complete projects with minimal supervision. The incumbent will balance day-to-day production assignments with research assignments and will contribute to the advancement of the group.  The incumbent will demonstrate creativity and independence in the development of client solutions using healthcare claims data.

 Responsibilities:

1. Develop, code, and implement analyses and models using medical claims data, as well as additional related databases such as socioeconomic data.

2. Work as a part of the analytics team in building statistical models and completing various analytic projects.  These activities will support internal development projects as well as client-sponsored projects. Ensure risks inherent in model development and usage are properly identified and managed.

3. Research and design advanced scores, attributes, products and indexes utilizing a wide range of data sources. 

4. Perform exploratory analysis, using new or current data acquisitions, to improve current solutions or develop new offerings that best serve clients in various roles across the healthcare market. 

5. Work collaboratively across teams to facilitate product development, specifically with the Product and Engineering teams.   

6. Document project process and results effectively in order to efficiently pass off projects to analytics team members for implementation and/or to provide adequate background and understanding for product decision makers.

7. Provide consultative support and training as well as be a general resource to the analytics team.  Assist in the development of guidelines, standards, and best practices to be implemented by all modelers.

8.  Summarize conclusions, recommendations and solutions for client or stakeholder presentation. 

9. Suggest/build software tools to streamline the building of models and other analytics.

10. Research best practices and new technologies.

11. Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science, mathematics, statistics or quantitative methods.

2. 7+ years applied modeling and analytics experience in applicable industry. Previous team lead experience preferred.  Advance user of SAS, SPSS, R or equivalent analytic software.

3. Thorough understanding of various statistical methodologies including linear regression, logistic regression, and other advanced analytic methods. 

4. Excellent analytical and project management skills.

5. Experience processing large data sets.  Healthcare medical claims data experience is a plus.

6. Experience matching/merging multiple data sets.  Experience with SQL or relational databases preferred.

7. Fluency with Excel, PowerPoint and Word. 

8. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
