Seagate is in need of a Software Engineer, Data Insights for our Data Insights Team within the Seagate Consumer Solutions Group in Cupertino, CA. This Software Engineer, Data Insights will work on challenging problems and expand the capabilities of a team which has impact across the organization.


About You

The Opportunity

As a part of the Seagate Consumer Solutions Group, the Data Insights team is responsible for building our next generation analytics platform to provide key insights and drive decision making for all of our consumer products. We identify, assemble, transform and combine data into readable, actionable and available reports for the entire Seagate consumer business.

In this role, you will work on software to collect anonymous technical data from consumer devices to help us understand the behavior and usage patterns of consumer devices in real world usage.



Our ideal candidate must be a self-directed team player who thrives in a continually changing environment and has the following attributes and experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science, 5+ years of experience in software development (if you have a Master’s Degree it can substitute for fewer years of experience).
  • Strong quantitative and logical skills
  • Strong experience with C/C++
  • Experience in Java or similar language
  • Experience working in cross platform environments including mobile platforms
  • Strong object-oriented design
  • Experience in working with complex data structures
  • Excellent cross-team collaboration and influencing skills - up, down, and across the organization
  • Experience with, and a passion for, working with agile methodologies in a fast-paced environment


Preferred Experience

Bonus points if you have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Experience in Scala, functional programming and algorithms
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services of similar Cloud computing environment
