NOW BREWING! Starbucks Business Analysis Manager, Packaged Coffee, Seattle Headquarters

In this newly created manager role you will bring a new level of data science and rigor to Starbucks Market Analytics team. You will contribute to Starbucks’ success by guiding business decisions with deep data analysis and creative visualization. You will develop algorithms that predict outcomes and simplify complex data relationships. You will improve Starbucks return on investment for current data and introduce new data sources with the potential to solve business issues. This position partners on a cross-functional business team of business managers and analysts leading strategic initiatives to unlock opportunities that support our global business.

Leveraging Your Previous Experience, We Will Enable You To

  • Lead the Channel Development Spend Optimization program to improve marketing and trade ROI
  • Evaluate promotion effectiveness and recommend actions that drive stronger scale programs
  • Identify the most important business questions and lead a deep dive analysis each month to inform highest level (Lead Team) business decisions
  • Create a “Business Intelligence hub” which becomes renowned for identifying and solving business issues, sometimes even before they are known by the organization

     

    • Extract data from various databases; perform exploratory data analysis, cleanse, massage, and aggregate data
    • Use creative methods (e.g. pattern recognition algorithms, predictive techniques) to stepchange how Starbucks leverages large syndicated datasets
    • Leverage free and low-cost data sources as yet untapped by Starbucks
    • Incorporate machine learning algorithms where appropriate
    • Translate findings into simple, actionable recommendations for business partners
  • Lead the quarterly Category Forecast
  • Manage the specification, acquisition, constant improvement and issue resolution of 3rd Party data suppliers

Requirements

We’d Love To Hear From People With

  • 3+ years of experience in CPG in a commercial business function
  • 3+ years of experience within data science of analysis discipline (can be combined with above)
  • Strong leadership skills, someone who takes personal accountability for business results
  • A track record of cross-functional collaboration
  • Deep curiosity, and an ability to translate new findings into simple, actionable recommendations
