Job Overview

The Big Data and Cloud Platform Support Analyst is responsible for supporting advanced analytics solutions across critical business areas. This role will work as a member of a multi-functional team to support with development, deployment and maintenance of advanced analytics solutions.


Assist to install, configure and maintain all BigData/Data Science/Cloud environments (Hortonworks Hadoop, Microfocus Vertica, Anaconda Enterprise, RStudio Pro, RStudio Connect, Microsoft Azure etc) and manage efficient configuration of all platforms. Administer configuration of all Advanced Analytics software services into various different environments. (20%)

Technical interface with IT local landscape teams, BICC, and Enterprise Data Warehouse teams Work with IT Local Landscape teams, DIAA Teams, Project Managers, Team Leads, and Technical Leads, as well as representatives from vendors to identify and resolve issues and remove obstacles in achieving the Advanced analytics solutions. (20%)

Retrieve, integrate and prepare data for analysis by Data Science team . Support and maintain a data lake - Hortonworks Data Platform based Hadoop Ecosystem augmented with a HP Vertica Platform with provisions to house raw data and to further transform into structured data and curate the data for rapid consumption and discovery from various of data sources. (20%)

Deploy Advanced Business Analytics Solutions using Hortonworks Hadoop Data Platform 2.6.1 to support the development of advanced statistical models. Support and maintain a Hadoop Cluster based on the Hortonworks Data Platform with key capabilities - Ambari, HDFS, YARN, Map/Reduce, Hive, Sqoop, Pig, Oozie, Zookeeper, Ranger etc. to support and batch and near real-time data processing capabilities. (20%)

Support activities involving solution design, development, deployment and maintenance of data science models built in Python/R using the Anaconda Enterprise Platform through integrating them with the enterprise applications as well as the data lake. (20%)


This position requires a minimum of 1+ years of experience. Preferred experience includes:

    • Information Technology - 1+ years of experience
    • Experience in automating data loads, refreshes, data transformation processes using Hadoop/Vertica ecosystem tools and enterprise integration tools - Sqoop, Pig, Hive, Oozie, Ranger, HBase, Spark, Vertica Bulk Loader and Autosys.
    • Experience in cloud technologies like Microsoft Azure(HDInsights, Data Bricks, R Server, SQL Data Warehouse, Cosmos DB, Azure ML etc).
    • Hands on experience with Python, Shell Scripting, Java.
    • Experience in handling Hadoop and Vertica Eco System tools in a Linux Environment is a MUST.
    • Good Understanding of Database Administration Processes, concepts – Modeling, Query, Security Administration etc.


A Bachelors Degree is required for this role. Recommended majors include:

  • Computer/Information Science
  • Information Technology


  • Analytical skills - Ability to collect data, establish facts and identify trends and variances; Ability to integrate information from a variety of sources with varied levels of complexity.
  • IT skills - e-Technologies/Web; Programming; Database
  • Problem Solving skills

Additional Skills

  • Ability to query databases and perform statistical data analysis; Knowledge and expertise in latest big data technologies; Broad understanding and experiencewith real time analytics and BI platforms.
