Position Summary
The Department of Medicine at University of Arizona is currently recruiting a biostatistician with experience in clinical research. He or she will work with investigators on the analysis of clinical, epidemiological, and quality improvement projects. Good communication skill is required to interact with clinical investigators.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Managing clinical and operational datasets, apply appropriate statistical methods for analysis, prepare analysis summary reports, and participate in manuscript writing.
  • Work with investigators to assist in developing quality procedures for data collection, study design, and statistical analysis.
  • Prepare tables, analysis results and statistical procedures for different projects.
  • Provide help in writing statistical method section for protocols or grant application.
  • Comfortable with large data operation, such as next generation sequencing data.
  • Organize data and communicate statistical concepts to non-statisticians.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Excellent problem solving, organizational, written and oral communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities and attention to detail is critical.
  • Computer proficiency and SAS programming skills are required.
  • Ability to perform statistical analyses of clinical data, prepare written interpretations of statistical results and to integrate these findings into clinical study reports and publications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in biostatistics or biomedical informatics, statistics or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in clinical research.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong motivation and dedication to scientific discovery is essential.
  • Previous experience in clinical research
  • Previous training in applied statistics, data mining and machine learning.
