Accelerating the growth of Aetnas Commercial business is core to Aetnas future success; to help power this, we are seeking an impact-oriented, analytics and business executive to lead our Commercial Growth and Marketing Analytics team. Supporting a $50B commercial business with over 85k clients, this team provides analytic support for marketing (B2B and B2C2C acquisition, retention) and other growth opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytic, written/verbal communication, project management, relationship building and leadership experience. The position is office based in our NYC, Wellesley, MA, or Hartford, CT locations.

Senior leader, reporting to VP, Marketing and Sales Analytics, responsible for directing the strategy and analytics critical to the success of the Commercial business, including B2B and B2B2C marketing solutions, and other potential Commercial growth drivers. Leads a team of 10+ experienced data science, business intelligence, and marketing consultants. Specific duties include:


Fundamental Components:

1) Commercial Marketing: partners with Marketing and Commercial organizations to develop comprehensive evidence based marketing strategy delivering Plan Sponsor and Member acquisition, retention, and ROI, including:

a) Business to Business (B2B) marketing: acquire new Plan Sponsors, retain existing Plan Sponsors, and expand relationships into new categories (dental, vision, other ancillary products)

i) Opportunity identification: size / prioritize acquisition, retention, and cross-sell opportunities

ii) Consultative marketing campaign strategy / design

iii) Customer analytics, including segmentation, LTV, prospect scoring

iv) Campaign design, including geographic and media mix, and ROI

v) Impact measurement / tracking

b) Business to Business to Consumer (B2B2C) marketing: increase Aetna share in consumer choice segments (Private Exchange, Slice, Federal) by acquiring new members and retaining existing members.

2) Commercial Growth: identify other opportunities for Commercial growth:

a) Opportunity identification: systematically assess drivers of commercial growth, including:

i) Current and potential attractiveness of major customer segments

ii) Product competitiveness vs local and national competitors

iii) Innovation opportunities (marketing, product, etc)

b) Data analytics: use market, product, customer data to develop diagnostic analyses, size opportunities, and business case

c) Implementation strategy: partner with segment and functional leaders to develop a shared vision, including multi-year strategy, tactical recommendations, milestones


Team management:

Recruit / lead high performing team (~10 FTE)

Manages and builds a strong team through training, diverse assignments, coaching / mentoring

Manage analytics implementation initiatives, budgets, plans, stakeholder expectations, and expenses

Responsible for team commitments to quality and on-time deliverables.

Motivates and is willing to understand and probe into technical details and mentors others to do the same



Experience leading large consulting and/or analytics teams, with a focus upon impact and innovation

10+ years of relevant experience with departmental leadership responsibilities, including B2B or B2B2C marketing and/or growth strategy powered by data analytics

Change agent: demonstrated ability to create case for change

Excellent strategic thinking capabilities with ability to derive insight and recommendations from data

Master's degree in Business, Statistics, Economics or related fields



Master's degree required, PhD preferred.
