Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer in John Deere Supply Chain Solutions, you will get the opportunity to work on large-scale global systems in a Fortune 500 company that is regularly ranked among the best companies to work for in the country. This position will be on the Strategic Sourcing product team that enables business initiatives focused on supporting the management of approximately $15B in annual expenditures from 15,000 suppliers and enabling Deere’s global operations to efficiently purchase from these suppliers. In addition, you will:

    • Collaborate with other engineers to drive application development and design to meet the Strategic Sourcing business requirements for the applications within the product scope
    • Work as an active member of the Strategic Sourcing Agile delivery team
    • Participate in discussions with the team and extended functional teams to develop technical solutions to satisfy business requirements
    • Participate in a variety of efforts related directly and indirectly to Java development and configuration of solutions
    • Lead analysis and design of solutions to improve quality and performance
    • Lead root cause analysis and resolution of production support issues
    • Mentor junior developers and perform proper code reviews
    • Provide architectural guidance into the future direction of product team, including cloud migration/utilization and application modernization

Requirements

What Skills You Need

    • Experience analyzing, defining, and translating business requirements into technical solutions
    • Knowledge of software engineering principles, database and infrastructure capabilities and constraints in the data- and web-based application environments
    • Effective analytical skills required to understand complex system interactions and understand impact of system changes on related processes
    • 5 or more years of development experience on large-scale software applications
    • Experience in the following technologies and frameworks: Java, Spring, SQL, JavaScript, CSS, HTML
    • Experience with technical system interfaces, including API design and implementation using REST, web services, and Akana
    • 2 or more years of experience with TDD and acceptance test-driven development utilizing J-Unit, Cucumber, Worksoft Certify, Cypress, Puppeteer Etc.
    • 5 or more years of varied DB experience (e.g. DB2, SQL Server, MongoDB, Hibernate, NoSQL, MySql, SAP Hana)
    • Technical leadership experience and ability to mentor other members on team


What Makes You Stand Out

    • 1 or more years of work experience in an Agile/Scrum team environment
    • 1 or more years of experience with DevOps principles and lean development such as Continuous Integration (e.g. GitHub) and Continuous Delivery (Jenkins, etc.)
    • Experience leveraging cloud technologies for application hosting and data processing
    • Knowledge of Supply Management processes, particularly sourcing processes


Education (or Equivalent Work Experience)

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:

    • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent discipline
